When Cosette and Jeanl Valjean were refuged by the monastery she was taught how to read and wright, she had a new life and an education.

Cosette is now the daughter of Jean Valjean. When she is with her he is himself. He gives her love and comfort. Jean Valjean does not pretend to be any body else when she is with her. We could say that Jean Valjean is "Jean Valjean".
